Now We’re Even
Amy and I were eating breakfast at Panera, when we discovered that the sausage and potato quiche had bell peppers in it.
Amy doesn’t care for bell peppers.
So instead of sharing the quiche and accompanying breakfast sandwich, I took the quiche, and gave her the sandwich.
Amy, knowing I liked the breakfast sandwich, saved a bit at the end for me.
I judged that she hadn’t eaten enough.
“Take another bite,” I said, passing it back. “A big bite.”
Amy took a small bite, while pretending it had been a big one.
“Why do you always subvert my commands?” I asked her, a trifle unfairly.
Amy, quite unaware of my mood and the potential consequences of her words, answered brightly “Well, you always subvert what I say, so now we’re even.”
OUCH…how does that stuff just pop out of us?? i find myself wishing i had verbal rewind in situations like this.
Do tell more..what happened next?
i hate it when “even” can be so relative in the hands of a true sadist..

And yes, what happened next?
My personal experience, not that I manage to keep my trap shut, is that a sadist is always in a sadistic mood.
My poor Master. I will never be able to just not come back with something. I try so hard, but can’t seem to stop the words from falling from my mouth.
